On Sunday May 4, Saturday May 10, Sunday May 11 and perhaps Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18, new trees and shrubs will be planted along the Rideau River Nature Trail, as well as spreading soil and mulch. University of Ottawa students will be helping with this project but more community support is greatly apprecaited, especially if you can provide wheel barrows, shovels, etc. Ian McRae has been working with the students and has purchased the plant materials and ordered the soil and mulch with money from a TD environmental leadership grant.

The annual spring clean up in Brantwood and Springhurst Parks is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to noon. This event is rain or shine. Please bring gloves if you have them, bags will be provided.
In Brantwood Park, please meet at the field house. The flooding has delivered more garbage and vegetation than usual. For Springhurst Park and Rideau River Trail Park, meet at the basketball court close to Springhurst. There is a lot of garbage particularly behind the Lees Avenue buildings. Some buckthorn will be pulled for those who like to use weed wrenches.
