Greg Donaghy will present the life and times of Sir Robert Borden, prime minister during the trying days of the “Great War.” Greg is Head of the Historical Section and Deputy Director, Policy Research Division, Global Affairs Canada and author of Grit: The Life and Politics of Paul Martin Sr. Grit was a finalist for the 2015 Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing. This is the third of a series of talks to celebrate Canada’s prime ministers.

Proposed changes to Ottawa's Noise By-Law for special events held at Lansdowne Park

The City of Ottawa is currently undergoing a review of the city’s noise by-law. Included in the document is a proposed option that suggests a change to the noise by-law for special events held at Lansdowne and the Canadian Tire Centre. It is proposed that the by-law be extended from the current 11:00 pm regulation to 1:00 am. You can view the City of Ottawa’s noise by-law discussion paper here.

Construction at intersection of Main and Riverdale - April to May 2017

Hydro Ottawa will commence the rehabilitation of a large hydro manhole on Main Street on Monday April 3rd. Hydro Ottawa has retained the services of Bradley Kelly to complete the work. The manhole is located just north of Riverdale Avenue. The work will take approximately 4 weeks to complete. Motorists should expect delays going through the construction site.

Parks Canada update on work to repair the Rideau Canal walls (along Colonel By between Bank and Pig Island)

Update from Parks Canada:

"Parks Canada began work on repairs to the Rideau Canal walls between Bank Street and Pig Island in November 2016. Repairs have progressed well and concrete refacing of the walls inside the canal is now complete. The next phase of work will be on the top portion of the wall, known as the coping, before shifting to address the trail, railings, and light standards in May. This phase of the project to repair the Rideau Canal walls in downtown Ottawa is expected to be complete in spring 2017.
