At this open house, members of the public will have the opportunity to review the evaluation of alternative design concepts, review and comment on the preliminary Recommended Plan for the crossing, and ask questions and discuss the project with members of the study team.

Update on Highway 417 Widening Project

The OECA has spoken with representatives from the Ministry of Transportation regarding the closure of the Lees Avenue on-ramp (eastbound) due to the widening of Highway 417 (the Queensway). We have been advised that the on-ramp will not be closed until spring 2013. The delay is a result of the ministry's decision to combine the widening project with the city's light rail eastward expansion, and therefore one contractor will be selected for the combined job. That contractor is expected to be chosen in late 2012 and the work will begin in spring 2013.

Springhurst Park Revitalization Project

After numerous public consultations with children, youth and adults over the past six months, the community’s feedback has been summarized and forwarded to the City of Ottawa and their team of park developers and landscape architects. Representatives of the Ottawa East Community Association (OECA), the Ottawa East Community Activities Group (CAG), the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre (SHCHC), Lady Evelyn School, and other community members – the Springhurst Park Revitalization Working Group – have reviewed several drawings by the city and their landscape architect and have provided feedback on these. On August 13, 2012, the city provided a revised draft plan with these comments in mind.
